First Cohort of RSA Academies’ Teacher Trainees Underway

The RSA Academies’ Teaching School Alliance welcomes their first cohort of trainees this September, with 20 trainee teachers starting their placements in one of seven schools in the RSA Family of Academies. The programme lasts for one academic year, during which time the aspiring teachers will undertake two school placements across the Teaching School Alliance.

Trainees have a bespoke programme of training developed and delivered by the Alliance Schools and University partners, designed to build confidence and subject knowledge and provide the trainees with the necessary skills to become an effective and creative classroom practitioner.

“Our vision is to recruit, develop and retain exceptional people, which will in turn transform life chances for our young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds… If we are providing excellent training opportunities for our staff, we are improving the learning and outcomes for the young people we work with.”

Danielle Owen, Director of the RSA Academies’ Teaching School Alliance

Teresa Wilson, Director of Initial Teacher Training

The RSA Academies’ Teaching School Alliance is distinctive in providing high quality CPD opportunities all the way from trainee teachers to headship. There is a strong focus on research-rich teacher development and disciplined innovation through the RSA Academies’ Enquiry Fellowship, which gives teachers the opportunity to complete an action-research project, empowering them to become more professionally engaged in wider educational research to improve practice in the classroom.

Recruitment has now started for the 2017 cohort. Please visit the website or email for more information.
