Hi. I’m Tom. I am currently in Year 8 here at Ipsley.
My time so far in Key Stage 3 has been wonderful. The transition from Year 6 to 7 was seamless with the help of my supportive teachers and friends. I have really enjoyed the variety of subjects at Ipsley, however, my favourites are: history, drama and French. I love analysing sources in history and studying the various topics such as Packwood House, Tollund Man, England in 1066 and The Stuarts. We have had many practical and creative home works where we have been asked to make such things as a model of The Feudal System and Roman weapons. We have also dressed up as Kings and Queens for historical role plays. I love our French lessons as they are active and we practise speaking the language as much as possible.
A main highlight of my time at Ipsley has been taking part in drama lessons, Drama Troupe and Performance Troupe. In drama I have participated in Shakespearean performances including Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, where I was a lead part in both plays. Also, we have created some spectacular performances in both Drama and Performance Troupes, under the creative direction of both Miss Whitehouse and Miss Alcock. These were so good that we were invited to perform at the Palace Theatre in ‘Redditch Got Talent’ and for the Oakland Trust Ball at the National Motorcycle Museum. Doing both troupes has boosted my confidence enormously and enabled me to work with so many different pupils across the school. I am hoping to continue my studies in drama at Arrow Vale.
Overall, I have really enjoyed my time at Ipsley so far and I am excited to see what lies ahead. I have just become a Student Leader and a member of the RSA8 leadership team; I know that this will also provide me with a wide range of opportunities and experiences, many of which I will be able to use later in life.
