Director of Initial Teacher Training – Job Opportunity

Part time secondment 0.4.  Fixed term September 2015 – August 2016

Grade L1 – L4

Based at one of the schools in the RSA Family of Academies.  Regular travel to the other schools in the RSA Family and occasional travel to the RSA in London.

The Director of Initial Teacher Training (ITT) will join the RSA Academies Teaching School Alliance and be line managed by the Director of the RSA Academies Teaching School Alliance.  The nature of the post is such that the post-holder will work closely with senior management in the five schools in the RSA Family of Academies and other partner schools.

The Director of ITT will provide leadership and management for the RSA Academies Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme and will be a point of reference for head teachers, trainees, mentors, tutors and others involved in RSA Academies’ initial teacher training. They will play an active role in the RSA Academies Teaching School Alliance, attending relevant meetings and disseminating key issues to key contacts in schools.

The role would most strongly suit someone with experience of management in a secondary school and/or in secondary initial teacher training, extensive experience of secondary initial teacher training, experience of delivering whole school CPD, knowledge of ITT Ofsted requirements and processes and knowledge of the characteristics of high quality teaching and learning in secondary schools. The post is likely to appeal to someone who can present complex information in a clear and logical manner and to communicate knowledge and enthusiasm, has successful experience of working in partnership with other schools and HEI providers and excellent communication and organisation skills.
