RSA Academies Internship

Circa £17,108 per annum (equivalent to the London Living Wage, pro rata) + benefits

35 hours per week (part time working 0.8+ considered)

Based in London WC2 with regular travel to the West Midlands

The RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) is an enlightenment organisation committed to finding innovative practical solutions to today’s social challenges.  One of the RSA’s key educational programmes is the establishment of a “Family of Academies”.  The RSA currently works with five schools in the West Midlands as a partner or sponsor, with plans to gradually increase the number of schools in the Family over the next few years.

The Family of Academies team currently comprises three permanent staff.  We are now looking for an RSA Academies intern to work with us for the next six months to support the further development of the RSA Family of Academies.  The intern will help with many aspects of the team’s work, with a particular responsibility for fund-raising. They will also be responsible for organising events for staff and students, work on the RSA Academies website, and provide administrative support to the programme as a whole.

This opportunity would most suit someone with experience of fund-raising, whether gained in a paid or voluntary capacity, and who is keen to combine fund-raising and administrative work with opportunities to work directly with children and young people.  The post is likely to appeal to a self-starter who enjoys variety, and is comfortable with multi-tasking.

The post will be based in London but the post-holder will need to make reasonably regular visits to the West Midlands (approximately twice monthly), where the Academies are located.  These visits sometimes necessitate early starts or late finishes.  Expenses will be covered for travel. Time off in lieu can be taken for out of hours work in line with the leave policy.

As an RSA intern, you can expect to make a real and valued contribution to one or more RSA projects. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who would benefit strongly from this opportunity.
