Whitley Academy students explore World Beyond School
As part of National Apprenticeship Week, a group of Whitley Academy students were given the opportunity to explore the World Beyond School at Coventry and Warwickshire’s largest careers fair organised by the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) in conjunction with the CWLEP Growth Hub and the Careers and Enterprise Company.
Over 40 local and national employers, training providers and colleges were in attendance, including Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Jaguar Land Rover, High Speed 2, the Warwickshire College Group, Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce Training and Coventry University.
Angela Tellyn, Regional Lead West Midlands at The Careers & Enterprise Company has said of the event:
“The Careers Event is an ideal way to connect with young people in Coventry and Warwickshire and for them to be inspired by the range of options and opportunities available. There were some great ambassadors among the exhibitors who were advocates for the career paths and job opportunities available to young people.”
A student from Whitley, Jaicee Corbett, found the event very informative, saying:
“I am interested in engineering and events like this are a good idea because it has given me the chance to find out the grades I need and the apprenticeship opportunities available.”
